Don and Irene Hall designed the camper to conquer the treacherous Alcan Highway in Alaska. It is lightweight and structurally superior. It utilizes a patented hydraulic lift system that allows the top to be raised and lowered. This allows full standing room inside the camper when it's parked, but when traveling the top is lowered so only a small portion is exposed thus reducing gas consumption and allowing for easier maneuverability.

Over the years the dedicated employees at Alaskan Camper have constantly improved the camper while still adhering to the original design concept. Today the Alaskan is the only solid wall camper with a top that raises and lowers hydraulically.
